REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Army Commander-in-Chief General Agus Subiyanto deployed an additional 15 battalions of personnel to accelerate the construction of bridges and housing for refugees in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
This addition consisted of five zeni battalions and 10 territorial battalions of development. With these additions, the total deployed army soldiers reached 37,910 men in the three provinces.
They helped refugees get through the emergency response period and enter the reconstruction and rehabilitation phase after the flash floods and mudslides that occurred on November 25.
Additional personnel will focus on the installation of Bailey bridges, the creation of temporary dwellings as well as permanent dwellings. In addition, they cleaned mud in schools, boarding schools, roads, and other public facilities.
Other tasks include the preparation of clean water, medical evacuation, logistics distribution, as well as trauma healing for victims.
The TNI Commander conveyed this in a press conference led by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at Sumatra Integrated Disaster Management Post, Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, on Monday (29/12/2025).
The military also built field kitchens, made drill wells, erected health posts, as well as facilities for bathing, washing, outhouses (MCK). Currently, there are 25 field kitchens, 124 usable drill wells, 42 health posts, and 186 MCK units.
Several Bailey bridges have been completed and are in community use, such as Teupin Mane Bridge, Teupin Reudeup, Jeumpa, Matang Bangka, Kuta Blang, Weh Pase, Hamparan Perak, Anggoli Sibangan, and others.
The military commander reported that 89 units of the main tool of the armament system (alutsista) were deployed for disaster management. The equipment includes helicopters, transport aircraft, hospital ships, as well as warships.
Aircraft, heli, and ships continue to support logistics delivery via airdrop or direct landing, as well as transporting heavy equipment, healthcare equipment, medical personnel, fuel, food materials, and generator sets.
To date, the military has delivered 2,669.53 tons of logistics by land, sea, and air. The press meeting at the Integrated Post was also attended by a number of officials, such as PMK Minister Pratikno, Police General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI General Kasad Maruli Simanjuntak, Vice President of Mensos Agus Jabo Priyono, Mendagri Tito Karnavian, Head of Department of BNPB Abdul Muhari, and Seskab Teddy Indra Wijaya.
This effort demonstrates TNI's commitment in supporting the government to accelerate recovery for people affected by disasters in Sumatra.
